Three-month-old Boomer Phelps makes a splash in Rio for his fashion choices
Swimming wunderkind Michael Phelps isn't the only Phelps making a splash at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro; the American superstar's 25 Olympic medals have nothing on the patriotic outfits being sported by his three-month-old son, Boomer.
The adorable little tyke, the product of Phelps and fiancée Nicole Johnson, could be seen turning heads from the rafters in a dashing Team USA ensemble that included a pair of golden baby booties along with red, white and blue shorts and a white onesie featuring "Team Daddy" emblazoned across the front. The infant was so proud of his land-of-the-free funsuit he posted a pic to his own Instagram account, @boomerrphelps - a pretty impressive social media feat for a three-month-old (kids these days!).
The outfit was merely the latest in a string of flamboyant wardrobe choices made by Boomer since the Olympic Games began, his keen sense of style previously leading him to sport flashy star-spangled diapers, red-striped baby bibs and t-shirts proclaiming "Gold Medal Athlete," "Stars & Stripes" and "MP,” many of which originate from his father's premium swimwear brand, MP.
Johnson and Boomer were in the stands to watch Phelps gobble up even more gold, this time earning medals in both the 4×200 men’s relay and the men’s 200-metre butterfly.
Phelps' 25 (and likely to grow) medal count has pretty much set in stone the swimmer as the greatest Olympian to ever live, which is great and all – a huge accomplishment, no doubt - but what the world really cares about at this point is, "What will Boomer wear for the qualifiers for the men’s 100-metre butterfly on Thursday and the men's 200m individual medley on Friday ?"
The Phelps camp was keeping mum at time of writing on Boomer's forthcoming fashion choices but rumours were swirling that his former beauty queen mom - no style slouch herself - would continue on throughout the Games as his personal catwalk muse.
