Bodrum cleans up after flash floods cause havoc
A three-hour flash flood caused chaos in central Bodrum this week, injuring eight people.
About nine inches of rain soaked the town in one day and at least 20 vehicles were swept down Cevat Şakir Avenue, one of Bodrum’s main streets, and nearby Dere Street when the deluge hit. The town is now holding a clean-up operation. The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued an emergency warning for the Mediterranean region as further storms are expected to hit Bodrum and the resort towns of Marmaris and Fethiye.
