Bye bye Bob Hope – California airport looks at name change to attract LA passengers
He made millions of people laugh during his lifetime but the airport named after comedian Bob Hope isn’t putting a smile on the faces of the officials who run it.
It seems that Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, Los Angeles, is too often overlooked by travellers coming to the city and some think it’s because of the name. The airport authority thinks that including ‘Los Angeles’ in the name will make for more passengers because then their airport would come up in internet searches for LA. A company has come up with four suggestions that mention either Hollywood or Los Angeles in the new name – but not Bob Hope. Some Burbank residents have complained though because they don’t want their city associated with LA.
