Bird flu arrives in North America

Health officials have announced that the first case of human H7N9, also known as bird flu, has been discovered in North America. A student from British Columbia had recently returned from a trip to China when she began showing signs of the virus. She did not have symptoms during the trip, and only began feeling ill a few days after returning. Federal health officials the said the girl is recovering in isolation, and that there are no signs of human-to-human transmission. Read more:
