The best Bed & Breakfast accommodation in Britain for 2018 has been revealed
A good B&B can be perfect for a romantic getaway, a family holiday, or even a relaxed long weekend. And now, travellers planning a trip to Britain will find it easier than ever to make the right choice, as the AA (Automobile Association) has unveiled their top picks for the best B&Bs across the country for 2018.
Now in its 23rd year, the annual awards recognise the very best establishments across a range of diverse categories, including the Most Unique B&B, the Friendliest B&B and Guest Accommodations of the Year. The competition also saw online booking platform Eviivo looking at nearly 1500 reviews of its top 100 properties to discover the most important factors that pleased guests, with “friendly”, “hosts”, and “welcome” being the most commonly-used words contained in positive feedback.
The title of Best B&B in England went to Old Town Hall in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, an impressive win for the relatively new establishment, which opened two-and-a-half years ago. In Wales, the Rhedyn Guest House in Builth Wells, Powys scooped the top prize, while Northern Ireland’s Causeway Lodge in Bushmills, County Antrim was also named the best in its category, while in Scotland, Cruickshanks Boutique B&B in the Isle of Arran took the top spot. The 25 Boutique B&B in Torquay, Devon was named the Most Unique B&B of the Year for its modern design and boldly decorated rooms, while The Temple Bar Inn in Hereford was named AA’s Friendliest B&B of the Year.
“B&Bs are an integral part of the British hospitality industry, providing a unique experience and bespoke customer care. The AA B&B Awards are an important date in the AA’s calendar, as we celebrate all that is great about B&Bs and highlight those that are constantly striving beyond what is expected. I’d like to congratulate this year’s winning B&Bs for their continued hard-work and for delivering customers a fantastic service,” said Simon Numphud, Managing Director at AA Hotel & Hospitality Services.
Other categories included the AA Restaurant with Rooms of the Year, which went to Long Melford Swan in Suffolk.
