Bengaluru takes over from Chennai as India’s third busiest airport

The southern Indian city of Bengaluru has taken over from Chennai as India’s third busiest airport, according to new statistics from the Airports Authority of India. Nearly 14.5 million passengers passed through Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport in 2014, an increase of 17.7% on the previous year. Analysts credit the increase to sluggish growth of the economy in Chennai and Tamil Nadu, and the creation of a new hub for AirAsia India in Bengaluru. Read more: timesofindia.indiatimes.com
