Beijing-Shanghai by electric car - trial launched

A pilot scheme is currently underway that will trial the 1,260-kilometre drive from Beijing to Shanghai by electric car. Five vehicles departed Beijing on Sunday and will make use of new government-sponsored charging stations, which are located every 50 kilometres along the expressway that links the two cities. The cars will need to charge once every 200 kilometres during the journey, and if successful, the scheme could reduce the total price of the journey to ¥400 (US$65). Read more: shanghaidaily.com
