O‘ahu’s famous North Shore is empty after a surfer lost his leg in a shark attack on Friday.
Relatives of the victim say he was surfing at a popular surf spot called Leftovers when the shark attacked. The surfer struck the shark a few times before it swam away. Then he swam to another surfer, who helped him get to shore. A surfboard leash was used to tourniquet the injured leg, and the surfer was rushed to the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition. Officials are monitoring the beach for shark activity and are advising visitors to stay out of the water. Read more: travelpulse.com
