Bangkok on bomb alert following courthouse blast

The Thai capital is on alert for possible bomb attacks against some 100 targets following the arrest of two men on Saturday after setting off a grenade outside a Bangkok criminal court. It has been reported that ‘red-shirt’ supporters of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra were behind the attack, which is alleged to be part of a plot to stage violent acts in order to draw the attention of the United Nations to Thailand. The incident, which did not cause any casualties, had not affected foreign office advice to visitors at the time of press, with travellers largely still advised to exercise a high degree of caution across the Thai Kingdom.
