Australia stops processing visa applications from Ebola-affected countries

Australia has stopped processing visa applications from countries affected by the Ebola virus. The Minister for Immigration Minister Scott Morrison told parliament the measures he was putting in place were to ensure the virus did not spread to Australia. "These measures include temporarily suspending our immigration program, including our humanitarian program, from Ebola-affected countries, and this means we are not processing any application from these affected countries," he said. Mr Morrison confirmed all non-permanent or temporary visas not would be cancelled. Australia has made some financial commitments to help deal with the disease but has not sent any medical aid teams to West Africa.  Read more:
