ANA resumes direct flights to Australia with Star Wars plane

Following a significant increase in tourist numbers from Australia to Japan, Japanese airline ANA (All Nippon Airways) has relaunched direct flights between the two countries, operating the service for the first time in 16 years.

The resumed service began with a flight from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport to Sydney on Saturday, with a plane painted in the colours of Star Wars robot R2D2.
