Alhambra breaks record for visitors in 2014

The Alhambra palace in Granada received more than 2.4 million visitors in 2014, the most the complex has ever received. The busiest day was May first, which is a national holiday in Spain, with 9,329 tourists visiting the site. Visitor numbers were up 20% for the month of January and 10% for February, traditionally some of the quietest months. Spain as a whole enjoyed record visitor numbers in 2014, with 61.7 million tourist arrivals in the first eleven months. Read more:
