Ailing Thai monarch cancels Bangkok birthday appearance

Thailand’s adored King Bhumibol Adulyadej cancelled plans to hold an annual audience in Bangkok to mark his 87th birthday on Friday on the advice of his doctors, according to the palace. The ailing king, who is the world's longest-serving monarch, has spent most of the last few months in hospital following a gallbladder operation. Read more:
