Agra cleans up its act for Obama Taj Mahal visit

The Indian city of Agra is cleaning up its act - and more literally, its streets - in preparation for the impending visit by US president Barak Obama. Roads are being scrubbed, garbage is being dredged from the River Yamuna, stray dogs are being rounded up, and even the conservation work on the Taj Mahal has been halted so the dust can settle before the presidential visit. The work is creating an employment bonanza for local cleaners, but ordinary tourists will be blocked from the area around the Taj during the official visit on 27 January. Read more:
