See some of the incredible entries from the 2018 Sony World Photography Awards

This week saw the announcement of the judging panel for the 2018 Sony World Photography Awards. As well as offering advice to those wishing to enter this year’s open competition, the organisation has shared a number of stunning images that have already been submitted in an effort to inspire prospective snappers.

Now in its 11th year, the Sony World Photography Awards will celebrate the finest contemporary photography from the past 12 months, and all competitions in the professional, open, youth, student focus and national awards categories are free to enter. Winners will receive cash prizes and digital imaging equipment, as well as having their work shared with a wide audience.

The expert panel of judges includes professionals from different fields of photography, such as Mike Trow, picture editor for British Vogue Uk, Naomi Cass, director of the Centre for Contemporary Photography in Australia, and Sue Davies OBE, founder of the Photographers’ Gallery in the UK.

Submissions can be made from now until December at the World Photo website.
