Air

There are regular flights from Chapelco Airport to Buenos Aires with Aerolíneas Argentinas. The airport is between San Martín and Junín. Any bus heading north out of San Martín can drop you at the entrance.

Boat

Naviera sails from the passenger pier at noon on a sightseeing trip of Lago Lácar's lakeside villages. Eventually it reaches Paso Hua Hum on the Chilean border, where Chile-bound passengers can disembark and continue on foot. Departure times change; call the ferry company or check with the tourist office. The seven-hour return trip costs AR$1100.

Bus

The Terminal de Omnibus is a block south of RN 40 and 3½ blocks southwest of Plaza San Martín.

La Araucana goes to Villa Traful daily during summer (AR$165, 2½ hours). If you’re heading to Villa la Angostura or Bariloche in summer, Albus regularly takes the scenic Ruta de los Siete Lagos (RN 40) instead of the longer but smoother Rinconada route.

To get to Aluminé you must first change buses in Zapala or Junín de los Andes (where there are three departures per week).

Igi-Llaima takes RP 60 over Paso Tromen (also known as Mamuil Malal) to Pucón, Chile (AR$360, five hours, daily at 6am), passing the majestic Volcán Lanín en route; sit on the left for views.

From San Martín there is direct service in summer via RN 231 over Paso Cardenal A Samoré (Puyehue) to Osorno and Puerto Montt in Chile.

There are frequent daily departures to these destinations.
