Welcome to Reserva Los Huemules
The private 56-sq-km Reserva Los Huemules has 25km of marked trails, and offers a quiet alternative adjacent to Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. It's an original concept combining a few private residences in an area of conservation with an emphasis on sustainable practices. Guests must stop by the visitor center to check in. Fauna includes the torrent duck, Magellanic woodpecker, condor, red fox and puma. The most notable resident is the endangered huemul deer, which the reserve endeavors to protect through scientific studies and habitat preservation, with breeding areas off-limits to visitors. The addition of Puesto Cagliero, a mountain refuge, opens up overnight treks to see Glaciar Cagliero. A via ferrata and glacier treks are slated to follow.
