Tour description provided by Viator

In this full day tour, you can enjoy the wonderful wildlife that visits Puerto Madryn every year, making this area of the Patagonia, one of the most important for the reproduction and development of marine fauna. In addition, we will visit a typical Patagonian ranch, ideal to spend the day outdoors, where we will be delighted with a delicious barbecue of Patagonian lamb. The Full Day tour to the countryside and visit to the Penguins Colony "El Pedral" is the perfect excursion for those who want to get a closer encounter with the wildlife that visit the peninsula without traveling many kilometers outside the city.
After our tour bus pick us up at the downtown meeting point, we leave Puerto Madryn at 8.30am and we travel about 75 km through Patagonian steppe until we reach the south end of the Gulf Nuevo where we will find the lighthouse of Punta Ninfas, valuable reference for sailors. We will see the elephant seals and sea lions breeding rookeries on the beaches surrounding Punta Ninfas. We continue towards El Pedral, an authentic Patagonian ranch that became a museum. Once there, we will do a guided tour through the Estancia. It is really appealing for its history and its particular design. Built in the early twentieth century, all materials and furniture were brought from Europe by boat and landed on the shores of the ranch itself. Inaugurated in 1923, the house preserves the aesthetics and style of those times in its warm environments. The walls with portraits and old pictures take us to the past, evoking a glorious era of intrepid entrepreneurs, undisputed pioneers of the development of the Valdes Peninsula. After visiting the interior of the house, we will go to the colony of Magellanic penguins. A guided tour between their nests allows us to have a closer encounter with these curious animals. In 2009 some 14 couples of Magellanic penguins conquered the beach of El Pedral. The colony prospered quickly and now, around 5,000 individuals make the Ecological Reserve.Meanwhile, early on, the "Asador" (the chef in charge of the barbecue), will be preparing a Patagonian lamb. Empanadas, a wide variety of salads, red wine and fruit salad are also parts of the lunch menu. After lunch, while children have fun in the pool or at the farm, we will enjoy the warmth of the house, with a delightful tea or coffee with a typical Welsh cake before heading back to the city.We will return to Puerto Madryn around 5:00pm.
