Getting There & Away

Two buses a day run from the terminal in Corrientes to San Miguel (AR$170, four hours) leaving at 4:45am and 7:30pm and returning at 4:30am and 12:45pm.

From San Miguel to the visitors center at Portal San Nicolás it's a 17km drive along a very soft sandy road that resembles a beach in some places. The first 15km are dominated by monotonous pine plantations after which the road emerges in farmland before reaching the red gate of the park. The port is another 10km drive from the visitors center. A private transfer in a 4WD pickup, such as the one run by Sebastian Gonella, costs AR$1300 for up to four visitors.
