Accessed by the town of Concepción, Portal Carambola is the best place in the park to get a feel for the culture and traditional life in los esteros. It's also a great place to take boat trips thanks to its diverse aquatic ecosystems.

Unlike the other portals on this side of the reserve, here there is a small community right beside the park boundary. Traditional houses surrounded by trees sit atop clumps of high ground surrounded by the flooded plains, and barefoot gauchos guide their horses through wetlands, swimming alongside them when the crossings get deep.
