Puerto Iguazú is awash with quality hotels, lodges and guesthouses and good deals can be had if your visit is flexible. Rosario has excellent hotels with good service across all budget ranges. Most other cities in the region have good higher-end lodgings but many lack quality midrange and budget options. Smaller towns often only have basic accommodations with the best beds often found in cabañas (cabins) outside the town centers.
While the northeast is not famed for its cuisine, there's plenty of interesting local specialties to spruce up otherwise fairly generic meals. The big drawcard here is flavorful local riverfish which make their way onto menus everywhere from small local diners to gourmet restaurants. The towns of the Río Uruguay are widely known for their excellent cheeses, cured meats, pickles and traditional snacks.
