Getting There & Away

Two to three daily buses run between Salta (AR$290, four hours) and Cachi: it's quite a ride!

From Cachi, Seclantás is serviced daily (AR$64), with the bus continuing four times weekly to Molinos (AR$70). There are no longer direct buses down the road to Angastaco and on to Cafayate – you'll have to divert all the way to Salta to get to either destination from Cachi. A tour from Cachi is also an option.

Buses run north as far as La Poma, the end of the line. The road beyond, to San Antonio de los Cobres, is an arduous ascent crisscrossing a river via lonely goat farms to a 4895m pass. It’s only passable in a non-4WD at certain times (normally September to December); phone the police (03868-490-9051) for advice. Otherwise, approach San Antonio the long way round.
