Downtown, attractions are mostly of the architectural variety, thanks to the wave of construction by European immigrants in the early 20th century, followed by another wave of construction at mid-century. Go for a stroll past the city's neoclassical performing arts center, Teatro Municipal, and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo.

Contrary to popular expectation, the city center is not close to the port, and to get a good sense of Bahía Blanca, you'll want to see both sections.
