I mailed the required documents from the Algerian Embassy website to their consulate in New York (most US citizens must use the consulate and not the embassy in DC) on a Monday morning using USPS Next Day Priority Mail.
-On the application where it asked for a contact in Algeria, I left this blank.
-On the application where it asked for an address in Algeria, I provided the address of the first hotel.

I found an official website of the ministery of tourism with a list of all tourist agencies in Algeria, specified by wilaya(=province) number.
f you want to find an agency for Tamanrasset look for the Tamanrasset wilaya.
If you want to go to Djanet, look for agencies in the Illizi wilaya, Timimoun look for Adrar wilaya.
I would like to spend just a few days in Algeria, Algiers obviously and either Oran or Constantine.
Any advice please on visa situation on a British passport and budget tour companies in Algiers if I need to book through one to obtain a visa. Maybe hotels can offer visa support?

Been reading through the forum a bit, and there is a lot of great information out there. Would like your input on our itienary and some advice on the route.
Me and my dad are planning a road trip coming to Algeria via the ferry from Spain and then continuing on to Tunisia and eventually Italy. I know this might be a very tight and stressful schedule for some, but we really don't mind doing long stretches of driving, nor is the point to see absolutely every sight at every place…
My wife and I are traveling soon but she fell ill and our departure got delayed. If we keep the same itinerary it means we will overstay by less than a week. Does anyone know whether this will create any issues for us? Thanks, Pete
