Glandore & Union Hall in detail

Introduction

The picturesque waterside villages of Glandore (Cuan Dor) and Union Hall burst into life in summer when fleets of yachts race in the sheltered inlet of Glandore Harbour; in winter they are just quiet backwaters.

Union Hall, southwest of Glandore across a long, narrow causeway, was named after the 1801 Act of Union that abolished the separate Irish parliament. The 1994 film War of the Buttons, about two battling gangs of youngsters, was filmed here. There's an ATM, a post office and a general store.
