Hello... more questions!
Is there any reason I shouldn't fly Air Zimbabwe from Harare to Kariba (and probabaly Kariba to Vic Falls)? It's $75 compared to $350 for a shuttle arranged by the safari company. Ummm... that's a big difference??
Also, I was thinking of taking the night train from Vic Falls to Bulawayo but was advised not to, as it's dirty etc. Has anyone ridden it recently? Is it really so bad...?
Anyone familiar with Goliath Lodge? I'm thinking of splurging for a night or two and looking at this one or Ruckomechi. Wilderness Safaris (which runs Ruckomechi) has a great reputation but I haven't heard much about Goliath. Any experiences with either one?
Looking for people to join me on a trek into Zimbabwe. I will be heading out of Kruger around June 20, 2016. Perhaps a stop in Mapungubwe before ZIm. We could even go into Mozambique Great Limpopo National Park. Let's plans an itinerary together.
I will not have more that 4 others at very most.
I have Landy Defender 110 and full kitchen and camping gear.
I've been a safari guide for 26 years.
You will pay a share of expenses.
How about it?
When we arrived in Bulawayo from South Africa with Intercape Bus, we had a hard time withour itinerary on how we could include Great Zimbabwe Ruins when we had already been in Bulawayo and yet we wanted to head to Victoria Falls. We had no enough time to include Matopos National Park,Great Zimbabwe Ruins and Victoria Falls. We checked around in Bulawayo looking for a car and driver to drive us to Matopos & khami ruins instead of going to Great Zimbabwe Ruins. At last, we came across a…
Hello all -- Trying to sort out the where's, when's and how's of my trip to Zim. Really want to go to Mana Pools but don't want to pay for a charter flight. Does it make any sense to rent a 4x4 in Johannesburg and drive there? I've checked into rentals at the Jo'burg airport and they have reasonable prices for vans and SUVs. I didn't see any 4x4's though. Can I rent one there? I've also never driven one... not sure if that's a problem? I know how to drive a manual/stickshift. Also seems like a…
Is this the preferred/usual border crossing from South Africa into Zimbabwe? Are visas issued at the border? How long is the average length of time? Would you recommend crossing at another point?
Thanks in advance.
No doubt many motorists in Bulawayo have been on the receiving end of ZRP Traffic's latest blitz - on breakdown triangles. The compulsory triangles are completely over-specified in the regulations and ZRP Traffic have seized this opportunity to extract more funds from the long suffering and weary motoring public.
The requirement for all motorists to carry two emergency breakdown triangles (or 'Special Visual Warning Devices' as they are termed in the regulations) is not new…
Other than anti-malarial pills, are any of the recommended immunizations listed by the CDC necessary for travel to Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, or South Africa? We will be travelling in May and June.
