A regional airline "Rotana Jet" based out of airport 2 in Abu Dhabi is applying for permission to run flights twice a week to Soqotra. Currently they say on Wednesday and Saturday.
Not sure of prices yet. I would expect up to $1500USD round trip/return ticket. I hope less.
I contacted the company direct. They are waiting for permissions for flights.
but you can also contact the follow travel agent.

Dear Ejh,

Yemen is the final visa I need and visit to become the youngest person to visit every country in the world. I will be verified by Guinness World Record. Could you let me know which company and how you were able to obtain the $50 visa?

Cheers,
Eric

I spent about 8 days there and I went both ways through Salalah, Oman...cost me 200usd, 100 to the captain and 100 to the company to organize it. I paid 100usd on arrival on Socotra for my visa. (I had a contact on the island who sorted out the visa for me in advance) I have a US passport and they didn't actually stamp a visa in my passport, but an immigration officer held on to it while I was on the island. I took the same shipping co boat back and paid 100usd to the captain. The shipping co…

I will plan to post when i get new information on the existing flights from Amman to Soqotra.

Currently it seems that flights will run weekly except when they don't. It will all be down to demand. In February the currently scheduled flights are 7th and 21st. To book flights contact one of the travel agencies on the island. Also to get visas as well. To get money to the island Moneygram works well. Check out the post on this website with information on the UAE trekkers visits in Feb and April…

Since there is interest here and on Trip Advisor (where I found the trip).

UAE Trekkers http://www.uae-trekkers.com/yemen-socotra/ has a trip going from Salalah to Socotra on a charter plane February 15-February 19. They are using a UAE based charter plane and UAE Trekkers is a registered agency in Abu Dhabi. You can email them to get a trip document. They have information on their meetup site: https://www.meetup.com/uaetrekkers/events/235480725/

Note-the price is $1,440 if you get yourself to…

Hi! I was wondering if somebody can advise how safe it is to travel to Socotra as a westerner in the very near future? Is it an absolute no - no to try and get there with my wife?

Socotra

Good evening,

can anyone provide an update on how the civil war in Yemen has affected tourism/access to Socotra? I will be travelling to Oman in December and was thinking of tacking on a side-trip to Socotra, if it's possible to get to it from Muscat/Salalah.

Thanks!

Boat travel to Soqotra from Oman is now over until mid September at the earliest. There is still no definite news about when direct flights from Dubai will start. Currently there are flights to Sayuun in the Hadramawt but unfortunately no connecting flights.
