Introducing Amran
First impressions of ancient Amran, situated on an old trading route 52km northwest of San’a, aren’t good. The town appears to be a rash of half-completed modern developments and seems to offer little reason to stop, but once past this you’ll discover a fruity and flavoursome old quarter with something of a wild west feel to it. The town is also known for the quality of its leatherwork.
