Hi, we are visiting Yemen in a month (Soccotra). What is a current safety situation? Is it probable we could stuck on the island in case airports will be closed due to the unstanble situation?
I traveled for eight days with Eternal Yemen in August 2014. It was a wonderful trip and I highly recommend Eternal Yemen if you want to travel in Yemen.
Before the trip, Tina Zorman of Eternal Yemen was very helpful in giving me information and answering my questions on many topics. She clearly knows what she’s talking about and is willing to give you whatever information you need.
My itinerary was a good mix of cities and smaller places. I loved Old Sana’a. It is one of the most beautiful…
im female and 30 years from switzerland.
im seeking for a travel mate to do a trip in march 2015 for yemen mainland and socotra!
its so much cheaper and of course more fun.
hope you can take your time then.
there is no security problem in Sanaa, you can visit it alone.
I was there for a couple of days last month and I visited all the things by taxi and by foot.
People are very nice and in Need for tourists.
US Dollar is 214 rials.
This City is a must for everyone and is without doubt the nicest City in the Arabic world.
Have a nice travel,
When I first got to see from the road the azure waters of Socotra I thought to myself I was in a paradise.
From there it went only better and better.
From dream beach to dream beach, I was always completely alone; just a couple of times it happened to spot one or two fishermen passing by and then disappearing soon after.
Long white sand beaches with azure and turquoise waters in front all by myself, with no tourist at all, it felt like it was too good to be true. The best beach, and my favourite…
After a 15 day trip to Iran, I am considering flying to Sana'a to then visit Socotra. The flights are such that I would arrive on a Saturday evening and would take the Monday morning flight to Socotra and then return to Sana'a Saturday and leave the country Sunday morning. So I cannot avoid nights in Sana'a.
I am a solo woman traveler and do have some concerns about a solo tour. Are all drivers and guides on Socotra male? I assume there are few travelers so it would be challenging to…
I've been to Yemen twice (once for a year and once for two weeks), but have never managed to make it to Socotra. I am hoping to try for a Socotra trip sometime in the fall, but for obvious reasons want to avoid going to the mainland. Does anyone know of any airlines that fly directly to Socotra from outside of Yemen? Maybe from one of the Emirates or Ethiopia?
Hello, all, I've heard stories about transit visa to Saudi, basically by coming to an embassy and saying that you booked a "last minute ticket from Jordan" by plane and that you have to get to Jordan by land from Yemen/UAE. Does anyone know about the success rate of this alternative? Which is the easiest embassy, Yemen or UAE or the country where I live
(I already mailed the embassy here in the Netherlands where I live, but maybe someone can contribute. I have an Irish and a Brazilian passport)…
