The central highlands (including San'a) - which range from 1500m (4921ft) to 3500m (11482ft) or more - enjoy a temperate climate for most of the year, though it can get hot at midday and chilly at night (particularly between October and February). The monsoons are light in San'a, but can be heavy (up to 500mm (19in) rainfall) in the southwest and can continue on into May. San'a ranges in temperature from a minimum of around 5°C (41°F) (from November to January) to a maximum of around 29°C (84°F) in July.
