The biggest shebang of the year would have to be the three-week, midsummer Cardiff Festival, which includes the Welsh Proms, live music and comedy, a Celtic Food and Drink Festival, street theatre - you name it. The fun culminates in the UK's largest free open-air festival, the Big Weekend (the first weekend in August). Cardiff's gay-pride festival, Mardi Gras, is held in late August or early September at Cooper's Field, and there's a Welsh Folk Dancing Festival in late June. November sees The International Film Festival of Wales showcasing homegrown talent.
