Wales, including Cardiff, has stunning landscape; it's a crime not to walk around. If you prefer something more vigorous than a saunter and a rewarding ale, there are options for caving, climbing, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding. Radiating out from the city are some traffic-free trails for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
The 55-mile Taff Trail is a walking and cycling route from Cardiff up the Taff Valley and across the Brecon Beacons National Park to Brecon. Highlights include the ascent of Taipalan and the viaduct at Cefn Coed.
For competition purposes Wales is a country in its own right and all home matches of the national rugby and football teams are played in the Welsh pride and joy: Cardiff's sparkling Millennium Stadium.
