The biggest annnual event that's unique to the region is Fiesta de la Virgen de Coromoto, when thousands of pilgrims gather at Guanare and at the Santuario Nacional de Nuestra Señora de Coromoto to celebrate the anniversary of the Virgin's appearance over 350 years ago.
