The Maiquetía-Los Roques flight takes about 40 minutes. Pack light; only 10kg of free luggage is allowed. You can also fly between Los Roques and Porlamar, on Isla de Margarita (1.5hr). There are no passenger boats from mainland Venezuala to Los Roques.
Once you get to Gran Roque, one of the boat operators will take you to the island of your choice and pick you up at a prearranged time. Most boats leave early in the morning, especially for destinations furthest away, but most islands can be reached in a matter of minutes - even Cayo de Agua is only 1.5 hours away.
The easiest way to the visit the islands is via an all-inclusive tour (1-2 days) from Maiquetía.
Your feet are all you need to get around on the islands - the only vehicles you're likely to see will be golf buggies carting local bigwigs around on Gran Roque!
