July and August are the warmest and clearest months in Reno, with temperatures reaching averages of 30°C (86°F) and above. In winter, snow can fall anytime between October and April. In general, the sun shines on Reno through the seasons. A temperature-related phenomenon known as 'inversion', combined with smoke from the city's many wood-burning stoves, can create a persistent haze in cold months.
