A Top Day in Reno

I start my day in 'The Biggest Little City in World' at a coffee shop on the Riverwalk, taking in the river views. After tanking up on strong brew, a saunter around the Truckee River is a must, with the historic Virginia Street Bridge criss-crossing the rushing water. When the weather's not too cold, it's always tempting to rent a kayak and see how far I get shooting the rapids in the white water. If it's a hot summer's day, there's nothing better than floating in a milder section in an inner tube. In the afternoon I head for the National Automobile Museum. The collection of vintage cars is vast, and it's fascinating to see all the wacky early design variations. Perhaps the only more spell-binding scene is at the Circus Circus, watching acrobats tumble and flip as if gravity didn't exist. For dinner, it's a toss-up between a veggie smorgasbord under recycled neon signs at the Pneumatic Cafe, or the atmospheric gourmet Italian at La Famiglia. And if it's movie night at Jungle Vino, I might need to stop in for a tasting or maybe a glass of whatever vintage they recommend.
