Indiana's winters are just slightly milder than some of its western neighbours, but they're still pretty cold. December to February are the chilliest months, with average daily maximum temperatures just a notch above freezing. In high summer the days tend to be hot and humid. Spring and autumn are the best times to hit the road, Indianapolis 500-style.
