Lugano: Getting there & around

Getting There

From Agno airport (091 612 11 11), Darwin Airline flies to London (City Airport) via Bern, Rome (Fiumicino), Geneva and Olbia (in Sardinia). Flybaboo flies to Geneva and Swiss Air Lines to Zürich.

A shuttle bus runs to the airport from Piazza Manzoni and the train station. Get timetables from the tourist office.

Lugano is on the same road and rail route as Bellinzona. To St Moritz, one postal bus runs direct via Italy at least Friday to Sunday (daily late June to mid-October and late December to early January; 4hr). Make reservations at the bus station, the train station information office or phone 091 807 85 20. All postal buses leave from the main bus depot at Via Serafino Balestra, but you can pick up the St Moritz and some other buses outside the train station 15 minutes later.

You can hire cars at Hertz (091 923 46 75) and Avis (091 913 41 51).
