Although Scotland has a reputation for gloomy, wet weather, the Stirling region has a surprisingly mild year-round climate for this latitude and is one of the drier parts of the country. Breezes from the Atlantic are warmed by the Gulf Stream, resulting in cold but rarely freezing winters and warm but often wet summers.
