Inverness: Overview

This Highland capital has castles, open spaces and its very own aquatic monster.

Scenically located on the shores of the inner Moray Firth, Inverness is the place to experience the region's remote open spaces or enjoy a little monster hunting at nearby Loch Ness. Although Inverness dates from the 1200s, few pre-19th century buildings remain because of its tumultuous history.
