Don't even consider the weather - the Algarve has year-round sunshine and warm seas so you'll be smiling in any season. But spring or autumn are probably the most pleasant times to visit - July to mid-September is peak holiday time for most Portuguese and other Europeans, so it can get busy and expensive at this time. Late July sees a large influx of visitors for a biker rally, so finding accommodation at this time can be extra challenging.

Weather

Along with Ireland, Portugal is Europe's westernmost country and the Atlantic is the main influence on its climatic patterns. Faro's southerly position gives it more of a Mediterranean type of climate, with balmy winters and summers moderated by the ocean.
