Panama City's high tourist season corresponds with its Pacific-side dry season - mid-December to mid-April: there is relatively little rain but keep in mind that hotel prices and airfares are generally higher during this time. These months coincide nicely with some fun festivals, like Carnaval which takes place in February or March on the four days preceding Ash Wednesday. Costumes, music, dancing and general unrestrained merriment prevail in Panama City. Semana Santa (Holy Week) takes place in March or April, celebrating Easter. Events include the re-enactment of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. On Good Friday, religious processions are held in Panama City and across the country.
Being on the Pacific side of the nation, Panama City has the standard Central American wet and dry seasons, from mid-April to mid-December and mid-December to mid-April respectively. Other than this, climate variation is minimal and every day is pretty much as hot and steamy as the next.
