Weather-wise, anytime is a good time to visit Oaxaca - it's warm to hot year-round with most rain falling between June and September. The average high in Oaxaca city ranges from 25°C in December and January (the coldest months) to about 30°C in March through May, the hottest months. High season is generally mid-December to mid-January, a week each side of Easter, and from mid-July to mid-August. If you want to experience Oaxaca city in festival mode, be here in July for the brilliant Guelaguetza fiesta. From July to December there's a string of exciting local fiestas.

There is perhaps no finer place in the world to be than Oaxaca in the winter: daytimes are toasty and the nights are just cool enough to make you grateful for the contrast. Summers, by contrast, are hot and muggy.
