The climate is pleasantly warm and dry most of the year, with a distinct rainy season from June to September (when some 200mm of rain per month falls in most of the area).
During Christmas and Easter, reserve ahead for accommodation and expect to pay top dollar.
Major festivals include the Fiesta Internacional del Mariachi (held late August to early September) and the month-long Fiestas de Octubre (yep, you guessed it, held in October), which includes free entertainment and cultural events.
At 5000ft (1524m) Guadalajara is blessed with a mild climate typical of the south-central highlands. June to September are the hotest and wettest months. For the rest of the year, you might want to keep a jumper/pullover or light jacket handy for those evenings on the town.
