From Kaunas International Airport (tel: 399 307; www.kaunasair.lt; Savanorių prospektas), 10km (6mi) north, Air Lithuania (tel: 7007 0777; kaunas@airlithuania.lt; Kęstučio gatvė 69) flies to/from Hamburg, Oslo, Billund, Munich and Cologne via Palanga.
No-frills airline Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) operates flights to/from London's Stansted Airport.
There is a hydrofoil service between Kaunas and Nida, and sailing time is four hours.
At the long-distance bus station (tel: 409 060; Vytauto prospektas 24), buy tickets for domestic destinations in the main booking hall and tickets for international journeys at the International Booking Office (Tarptautinių autobusu bilietų kasa; tel: 322 222).
Tickets for Kautra (www.kautra.lt) buses throughout Lithuania and most international destinations are also sold in town at Eurolines (tel: 209 836; Laisvės alėja 36), inside the tourist office. Daily services within the Baltics include Rīga (3.5hr), Tallinn (12hr) and Vilnius (2hr).
From the train station (tel: 221 093; Čiurlionio gatvė 16) there are up to 16 trains daily to/from Vilnius (1.25-2hr) and an overnight bus to/from Klaipėda (6hr).
