A Top Day in Osaka

I start the day with a cuppa at a local Osaka coffee shop near where I'm staying. Then I head to the closest bit of greenery for my morning constitutional, maybe Nakanoshima Island if I'm staying in the centre of town. Then I head up into Umeda, where I do a bit of shopping and then visit the fantastic Junkudō Bookstore in Kita-Shinchi. After browsing the books, I make my way over to the Shin-Umeda Shokudō-Gai to have lunch at one of the crowded lunch counters there, maybe kushi-katsu (skewers of meat, fish and veggies) or some okonomiyaki (something like a Japanese pizza), depending on my mood. Next I make my way over to Osaka-jō Castle, especially if the cherries are in bloom. After checking out the castle, I make my way south to Minami. Here I might have a look at the crazy kids in Amerika-Mura, or just poke among the many shops on Midō-suji Street. I have dinner somewhere in Shinsaibashi, maybe a little sushi or some of Osaka's famous udon (thick white wheat) noodles. After that, I head over to Ebisu-bashi bridge to watch night fall and the lights come on. Finally I meet some Osaka friends in one of the countless little bars in the area for a drink and a yarn.
