In terms of climate, the worst time to visit Eritrea is June to August, when the rainfall is at its highest in the highlands and the west, and when the eastern lowlands are sun-baked to within an inch of their geographical existence; the best times are from October to March. You might also want to time your visit to coincide with one or more of the region's prime religious festivals, such as Timkat (19 January) or Meskel (27 September).

Weather

Temperatures see little seasonal change in this lamb-chop shaped nation on the Red Sea, with earlier and later months offering the fewest rainy days. The meatier northern part is kept cool by coastal breezes when the sun is not at its zenith and sees consistently comfortable temperatures from 23-26°C (75-80°F). In the south, the Dankalia is a pretty good preview of hellfire.
