Introducing San Miguel

San Miguel, one of El Salvador's largest cities, is the main hub for the eastern half of the country. Founded in 1530, it still shows signs of Spanish influence in its colonial-style buildings and central plazas. It has a few park areas, too, and its cathedral is in better shape than most, though like other Salvadoran cities it's choking on its own smog. The market spills out of its central area onto many streets, adding some excitement to the active city - active, that is, until the sun sets bright-orange and then it's downright dead. When the city center shuts down, make sure you're where you want to be.
