On the whole, Caracas' budget accommodation options are poor, lacking charm and located in unimpressive, sometimes unsafe, areas - most double as 'love hotels' (ie rent by the hour). The news is a bit better in the mid-range: Caracas has plenty of four- and five-star hotels charging hefty rates.
