Getting There

Brno's Tuřany airport is 7.5km (4.5mi) southeast of the train station by taxi.

ČSA (tel: 542 210 739; Nádražní 4) has scheduled flights (and buses) from Brno to Prague for international air connections.

For short trips, buses are faster than trains. Two companies, Český Národní Expres (tel: 542 211 265) and Čebus (tel: 542 216 428) run buses between Prague and Brno (2.5hr). Tickets are available from their offices opposite the Grand Hotel and the bus station. For timetable information contact the bus information line (tel: 543 212 651).

Euroline (tel: 224 218 680) buses also connect Brno with German destinations including Dresden and Aachen.

Brno's train station (tel: 541 171 111), a major rail hub, has frequent main-line connections to Prague (3hr), Bratislava (2hr), Vienna (2hr), Budapest (4hr) and Berlin (8hr). All bus and train times and prices can be found at www.idos.cz.

Getting Around

MHD at Benešova 22 sells tickets and monthly passes for public transport - you can buy single tickets valid for 10 or 40 minutes, or a 24-hour pass. You can also buy tickets from tabák shops, or from the orange ticket machines at some tram stops.

City Taxis (tel: 542 321 321) can be called in advance. Avis (tel; 542 122 670; jiri.tisler@avis.cz; Husova 16) car rental has an office at the Hotel International Best Western.
